Along with all of the hockey programs in the area and with guidance from the Connecticut Hockey Conference, we are continuing to monitor the evolving situation with the Coronavirus outbreak. It is our top priority to protect our players, families, coaches and community.
Per USA Hockey effective today, March 13th all hockey events, including tryouts, are postponed until further notice for all organizations. As soon as we receive notice from USA Hockey as to when this directive will be lifted, we will reach out to you with the new dates and times for tryouts.
We know tryouts can sometimes be a time of stress and uncertainty which is not needed right now. We should all be focusing on the health and safety of our families during this time. Please don’t worry about hockey tryouts and know that it is the CT RiverHawks goal for all returning players and goalies to have a spot on a RiverHawks team next year in addition to growing the program with new faces! We will sort all of this out when our lives return to normalcy.
Players should be preregistered and arrive 45 minutes prior to tryout and check in. Please have your player check in for each session.
Players should bring a light and dark jersey to tryouts. Players will be instructed each night at check in what color jersey to wear.
On ice tryouts will be run by RiverHawks coaching staff.
Players will be evaluated by an off ice panel including head coach, other RiverHawks coaching staff and non-RiverHawks evaluators.
EJEPL - The RiverHawks are entertaining participation in the EJEPL to supplement their CHC schedule. Participation in this league will be determined immediately after tryouts and will be based on the strength of the final roster. Notification of participation will be known at the time of Signing Day.
The CT RiverHawks are excited to announce that we are joining the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League (EJEPL) for the 2020-2021 season. The CT RiverHawks will have a PeeWee Minor team (birth year 2009) and a Squirt Major team (birth year 2010) play in the EJEPL next season. These teams will be billed as ‘AA’ teams for the purpose of CHC scheduling and rankings. Joining the EJEPL allows for the CT RiverHawks program to strengthen our development opportunities and guide our players to a higher level of hockey. The EJEPL games will be supplemental to the regularly scheduled CHC games throughout the season. There will be 16 EJEPL games (8 home, 8 away) and 2 Showcases against other EJEPL teams.
